Following a successful Week of Service, the Young Men’s Service League of Northern Colorado (YMSL) announced the completion of its Ultimate Gift project. A total of 183 mothers and sons volunteered 520 hours, representing 84 percent of the NOCO chapter’s membership.
Focusing on food insecurity in Northern Colorado, YMSL’s goal was to help prepare SERVE 6.8 for a critical season of outreach, including Adopt-A-Family and other programs that provide support to neighbors in need throughout the community.
Working alongside SERVE 6.8, YMSL collected 5,824 food items, along with $960 in cash donations and gift cards during community collection drives held on Saturday, Sept. 19. Throughout the following week, Warehouse Warrior volunteers sorted and counted donations while supporting additional projects at the SERVE 6.8 warehouse.
The Week of Service culminated Saturday, Sept. 26, when volunteers assembled the SERVE 6.8 toy room for Adopt-A-Family and assisted with ornament preparation and other critical tasks. Special project teams also contributed their time and talents to support SERVE 6.8’s mission.
YMSL mothers and young men also donated more than $1,000 in $25 grocery store gift cards, which SERVE 6.8 can distribute to individuals and families facing food insecurity.
“We are thrilled with our project outcomes,” says Tricia Schuster, ultimate gift chair of YMSL NOCO. “We helped prepare SERVE 6.8 for a critical season of outreach. The generosity of our members and the community will have a direct impact on local families facing food insecurity, and we’re proud to partner
with SERVE 6.8 to make that possible.”
Since May 1, 2026, YMSL members have contributed more than 2,446 volunteer hours throughout Northern Colorado, positioning the chapter to surpass 5,000 hours of service during the current fiscal year.
