Twelve men balanced on four motorcycles for a quarter of a mile
The Fort Collins-based nonprofit Realities For Children hosted its 25th annual motorcycle poker run and community rallies on both Friday, Aug. 28, and Saturday, Aug. 29. More than 1,000 riders participated, and 2,000 people attended during the two-day event. The riders began and ended their 82-mile ride at Grimm Brothers Brewhouse, located at 815 14th St. S.W. in Loveland.
On Aug. 29, the Seattle Cossacks Motorcycle Stunt Team set a new world record with 12 men on four motorcycles traveling for a quarter of a mile.
“The Realities Ride has been such a big part of our lives because of what Realities For Children represents: hope, love and the dedication to be there for children who have been abused or neglected in our community,” say Loveland residents Pam and Rob Rogge. “We are proud that we have been Realities Ride leaders for 24 of the 25 years.”
Realities For Children Executive Director Craig Secher founded the event 25 years ago with 70 riders. In 2013, the Guinness Book of Records recognized it as the World’s Largest Motorcycle Poker Run when it garnered 1,531 participants.
This event brings the community together—along with thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts—to raise awareness and funds for Realities For Children, which provides emergency and ongoing support to children who have been abused, neglected or are at risk in Northern Colorado.
