Ask any parent juggling a full-time school schedule, or any homeschool mom who hasn’t had a full day to herself in months, and you’ll hear some version of the same thing: They want more time with their kids, but not less quality education. Apogee NOCO, a Hybrid Academy now enrolling its founding cohort, was built around that exact problem.
Apogee NOCO runs on a 2-2-2 rhythm: two full days a week in the classroom, where leaders (Apogee NOCO’s word for its students) work through project-based academics alongside real mentors; two full days of guided learning at home, with parents supported rather than left to figure it out solo; and two Friday half-day excursions a month, where learning moves outside the classroom and into local businesses, nature and hands-on community projects. It’s powered by the Apogee Program Model, the a nationwide education framework developed by educator Matt Beaudreau.
“I started this because I couldn’t find it for my own kids,” says Summer Hurd, founder and program director of Apogee NOCO. “I wanted them to have real mentors and real friends and real academics, but I also wanted our family time back, and I wanted them to grow up knowing us, not just knowing school. If you’ve ever sat in the school pickup line wondering if there’s a better way to do this, that’s who we built Apogee NOCO for.”
Kids will learn hands-on entrepreneurship skills and life enrichments (cooking, design, health, fitness), with flexibility and free time to pursue their own passion projects as desired. They will be prepared to become real contributing members of the community, with skillsets to thrive. Whether they choose to go to college or start their own business, they will have the direction, skills and confidence to do so.
Built for families in different seasons
