This summer, Greeley Ice Haus figure skaters earned top honors at state and national competitions. These local athletes showed skill, dedication, focus and determination on the ice.
National stage
Local athletes Aubrey Frezza, Samantha Spencer and Samantha Taylor traveled to Norwood, Mass., from July 9-12. They spent a week at the 2026 Excel National Festival, a world-class competition by the Skating Club of Boston. The girls representing Mountain View Skating Club attended with 900 figure skaters from across the country. Coached by City of Greeley staff, Shawna Ludy and Carla Villavicencio, the three figure skaters train at the Greeley Ice Haus.
“Stepping onto the ice alongside top national talent was a major milestone for these athletes,” says Maria Taylor, parent of Samantha Taylor. “Their hard work paid off with outstanding results in their respective divisions.”
Individual results
- Samantha Taylor – third place (Bronze Medal) in the Aspire 3 Division
- Aubrey Frezza – fourth place in the Pre-Preliminary Excel Division
- Samantha Spencer – fifth place in the Aspire 1 Division
State competition
The Ice Diamonds took second place at the 2026 National Showcase, a U.S. Figure Skating event. The competition was held on Aug. 8 at the South Suburban Sports Complex in Highlands Ranch. Reagan Mitchell, Tala Gardiner, Lucy Lemon, Samantha Tayler, Arbury Frezza and Frida Barrera delivered strong performances.
The Greeley Ice Haus offers both Learn to Skate Basic Skills and figure skating classes for all ages and abilities. The Mountain View Skating Club also practices at the Ice Haus. They provide students with opportunities to develop their skills and compete.
