Northern Colorado artist Tobias Lee Moreno, founder of What The…?! Studios Ltd., has advanced into the top 10 of the nationwide People’s Artist competition benefiting The Art of Elysium. The recent competition run gained momentum through support from the studio community known as the HeART Beats, a grassroots following centered around independent art, storytelling and long-term creative persistence.
“Reaching the top 10 feels less like an individual achievement and more like proof that authentic creative communities still matter,” Moreno says. “In a time where so much content feels temporary or automated, this experience has reminded me that people still deeply connect with work built over years of persistence and personal investment.”
Moreno founded What The…?! Studios Ltd. in 1993 and has spent decades independently creating original comic properties, visual storytelling projects and multimedia artwork while building a community around handmade, creator-driven art. What The…?! Studios Ltd. combines comic-inspired artwork, cinematic visual design, music-driven presentation and original world-building developed over more than three decades in Northern Colorado. Moreno says the top 10 recognition has been especially meaningful because of the local and online support rallying around independent, human-created artwork and long-form storytelling.
