McKee Wellness Foundation announces a significant leadership transition as Executive Director Kara Pappas prepares to take on a new national opportunity, concluding a transformative tenure since 2021. Pappas will be joining the Military Family Advisory Network as chief advancement officer, a role that deeply resonates with her as a nonprofit leader and military spouse. McKee Wellness Foundation’s board of directors has selected Nate Lamkin to take on the leadership role, effective immediately.
Under Pappas’ guidance, McKee Wellness Foundation became an independent organization, redefined their focus and launched The Next Frontier, an initiative that addresses the community’s most pressing health and wellness needs.
“This decision comes after much reflection,” says Pappas, who noted the move is both exciting and bittersweet. “It has been one of the greatest privileges of my career to serve this organization and this community. I leave with immense gratitude and full confidence in the foundation’s bright future.”
As the new executive director, Lamkin brings more than 27 years of healthcare and nonprofit leadership experience, most recently serving as president of Pathways, Northern Colorado’s leading provider of hospice and palliative care. Lamkin is widely recognized for his strategic vision, collaborative leadership and commitment to service. During his time at Pathways, he expanded services, strengthened community trust and led the creation of the region’s first inpatient hospice center.
“Nate’s strong relationships with healthcare and philanthropic leaders across the region, paired with his values-driven leadership, make him an exceptional choice to lead the foundation into its next chapter,” says Mike Ball, president of the McKee Wellness Foundation’s board of directors.
