Museum Celebrates Mothers with Gift Sale and Free Admission

Kahlil Gibran once said, “Mother is the most beautiful word on the lips of mankind.” The Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures will celebrate mothers with a special Museum Shop sale and a free admission day.

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 3, the Museum Shop will offer discounts on all items, many of which are handcrafted in Africa, Asia, Japan or South America.

Find unique jewelry, Zulu telephone wire baskets, woven baskets, colorful pillow covers, handmade clothing accessories, pottery, scented candles, international spices, kitchenware and so much more.

Consider getting Mom a Museum Shop gift certificate or a Museum membership with benefits such as free admission to exhibits, early registrations for Museum programs and events and a 12% discount in the Museum Shop for an entire year.

On Saturday, May 10, mothers will enjoy free admission to the Museum from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. In the Main Gallery, It’s About TIME explores the theories and portrayals of past, present, and future. The exhibition runs through May 24 and is funded in part by the City of Fort Collins’ Fort Fund.

The Global Village Museum has four galleries, two rotating and two permanent. The rotating Main Gallery hosts three to four exhibitions per year, and the rotating Hall Gallery highlights local artists and organizations. The permanent galleries are Mundoville and John E. Roberts Village Arts. The former showcases international folk art as well as the world in miniature. The latter is home to world folk art, fine art, and artifacts from Africa and Asia that were donated by local collectors and founding members.
