Marlie’s Stuffies for Emergencies

Marlie’s Stuffies for Emergencies was initiated by Marlie Walker, in 2018 after Marlie’s father, Cody Walker, passed away in a motorcycle accident. At the hospital nurse, Reathea Blumenthal, gave Marlie a stuffed animal, which helped her cope with the loss of her father. Marlie wanted to give back to other kids that are going through traumatic situations just as she had to and therefore started the “Stuffies for Emergencies” drive. In December, Marlie raised 1,268 stuffed animals, and doubled the amount raised from the year prior! Every year the drive will start on November 1st, Cody Walker’s birthday, and goes through to Thanksgiving. All stuffed animals are donated to the UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital and are spread throughout 4 hospitals in Northern Colorado.
