The Elizabeth Hotel brings Dog Days back to downtown Fort Collins in February
Dog owners are invited to celebrate their four-legged friend at the second annual Dog Days events at The Elizabeth Hotel, which will be held every weekend in February at the Magic Rat. All the events are free and open to the public—even the dog training sessions, presentations and workshops.
“When I arrived in 2022, the first thing I noticed was that there was an incredible amount of enthusiasm for dogs in Northern Colorado,” says Carl Pratt, general manager at The Elizabeth. “Since we’re a dog-friendly hotel, I wanted to bring the community together in a fun way during the darker days of the year.”
Every Friday, the hotel will host a “Yappy Hour” and serve dog-themed Tito’s cocktails, donating 20 percent of the proceeds to four local animal nonprofits: Animal Friends Alliance, NOCO Humane, Human-Animal Bond in Colorado (HABIC) and Old Dogs New Digs. Poudre Pet & Feed Supply will also donate goodie bags and offer discount cards.
A variety of free dog activities will take place every Saturday and Sunday throughout the month, including the weekly Drink with Your Dog® brewery manners class taught by Amber Quann of Summit Dog Training. The sessions are put on by local dog trainers, veterinarians, animal nonprofits and other dog-loving organizations that volunteer their time and expertise at the event.
