Personal trainer and motivational specialist Theresa Rose Adams is opening her first fitness studio in midtown Fort Collins this month, with a grand opening scheduled for Jan. 6, 2024, at 3 p.m. The totally renovated Your Best Day Ever Fitness is located at 1616 Laporte Ave.
Adams and her husband, Nic, fulfilled a long-time dream of moving to Fort Collins in 2014, even rebuilding a bus then living out of said bus for more than two years. Soon after, Adams quickly found herself teaching multiple classes a week and supporting personal fitness goals through the City of Fort Collins while Nic worked at nearby Noosa Yoghurt.
Hardwired to see all the human body is capable of, Adams remembers being amazed by all her body could do, even as a child. “As a kid, I remember wondering why people weren’t proud of their bodies that can move, jump, walk and get stronger,” she recalls. “Even the adults in my family who had some significant physical limitations still had so much function. It stuck with me all my life that I wanted to help people enjoy moving, no matter their ability or fitness level.”
Working at every and all levels on staff at various gyms, Adams found her way to the YMCA in Elk River, Minn. “I was able to start leading classes and getting trained as a group fitness instructor,” she says, appreciating all that the YMCA team invested in her through the years.
Adams is a true motivational expert—just ask any of her clients. “From the moment I started working with Theresa, I knew I had found someone special,” says client Cameron Mansanerez. “Her ability to make workouts fun, inspiring and effective is unparalleled. Whether we’re doing TRX, cardio-based exercises or strength training, Theresa always keeps the energy high and the enthusiasm flowing.
“Beyond the enjoyable workouts, she has an incredible talent for providing personalized attention,” Mansanerez adds. “Theresa is not just a trainer; she is a mentor and a cheerleader. She pushes me to exceed my own expectations and believe in my ability to achieve more.”
Adams prides herself on making personal fitness and group classes accessible. That includes her new, convenient location, flexible hours of operation, small class sizes and pricing model. “I want people to see what they can do by removing any obstacles I can,” she says. “I have people that want to exercise with me three days per week because they want that accountability. I have others that want to meet once every week or two and they repeat the workout I give them at home or in a local gym. Whatever their time constraints or budget, I want to work with them to find a fitness solution.”
Earlier this year, Adams first branched out on her own with Your Best Day Ever Fitness, renting a small studio in Old Town and eventually sharing space with a local fitness co-op. Turning on the lights at her own dedicated space at 1616 Laporte Ave. was preceded by four months of elbow grease in order to provide clients with the bright white motif, pops of purple on the all new fitness floors and brand-new fitness equipment, not to mention a newly remodeled restroom. The result? A private studio near City Park for dedicated, appointment-only workouts.
Adams’ clients are as excited about her new space as she is. “I have been a very hit or miss with exercise routines for most of my life,” says Marcia Graham, a local client who is a wife, mom and full-time employee for a nonprofit. “Even when I am not in the mood to exercise, I know Theresa will make me laugh and keep me moving for a full hour. And now I have a fresh workout made just for my current goals to incorporate into my week.”
“Theresa is as open and nonjudgmental as they come,” adds Angelina Bello, who at the age of 19 has already trained with Adams for more than two years. “She gives practical strength-training that will make you stronger out of the gym. Joy and laughter follow wherever she goes, which is perfect for getting used to exercise.”
Over the past 14 years of teaching group classes personalizing training to her clients, Adams has received many trainings and certifications, including:
- Chek Institute Holistic Lifestyle Coaching Certificate (2007)
- YMCA Group Exercise Spin (2009)
- YMCA Group Exercise Zumba (2009)
- NETA Personal Training Certification (2009)
- TRX Suspension Training (2010)
- Yoga 500 hour (2015)
In addition to holding private, appointment-only sessions for her personal training clients, Adams also leads small group classes through vinyasa and restorative yoga as well as functional fitness using multiple modalities, including suspension trainers.
