NOCO Restaurant Wing Shack Hosts 9th Annual Turkey Drive for Local Food Banks
Give hunger the bird! Wing Shack, Northern Colorado’s favorite spot for wings, sandwiches, and more, is hosting its Thanksgiving Turkey Drive to collect frozen turkeys for local food banks. Since 2017, Wing Shack has collected over 1,700 turkeys and donated over $12,000 during its annual Turkey Drive.
Turkeys can be dropped off at any Wing Shack location, and for every turkey, Wing Shack will give you a $10 Wing Shack cash card! But that’s not all: for every turkey they collect between now and November 23rd, they will donate $10 to fight hunger in local communities. Turkeys must be frozen and will be donated to the Weld Food Bank, the Food Bank for Larimer County, Needs Inc. (Cheyenne), and the OUR Center (Longmont). Wing Shack’s financial contribution will be split evenly among these four community partners.
One of the beneficiaries of the Turkey Drive, Weld Food Bank, expressed their gratitude for having Wing Shack as a partner this holiday season. “We are seeing record numbers at Weld Food Bank with so many of our neighbors struggling to make ends meet,” says Bob O’Connor, CEO of Weld Food Bank. “The need is continuing to grow as we enter the holidays, and we are seeking to collect 4,500 turkeys for Thanksgiving and Christmas meals.”
O’Connor knows it is no easy task to collect so many turkeys in such a short time. “We have an amazing community that steps up, and leading that charge is Wing Shack. We are grateful for their long-standing partnership and their commitment to helping us fight hunger throughout the year,” he exclaims.
Food Bank for Larimer County is another partner and provides an estimated 37,500 people per year with food. “We are so pleased to once again be working with Wing Shack to support our neighbors this holiday season,” says Community Engagement Manager Morgan Villnave. “Community partners like Wing Shack are vital in making sure that everyone who wants a traditional holiday meal has the chance to enjoy one this year. We cannot thank Wing Shack and the community enough!”
Doug Baker, director of marketing for the Wing Shack, knows the impact hunger can have on people. “Food and community are the backbones of the Wing Shack, so a holiday like
Thanksgiving is so important to us,” says Baker. “We are truly grateful for all the support we have received for our Turkey Drive in the past, and we are proud that we can double our financial contribution – to both our guests and our food pantry and food bank partners.”
Help kick hunger out of the coop and donate your frozen turkey between the hours of 11 am and 10 pm at any of the Wing Shack locations:
