As the chill in the air starts to bite a little harder and the last of the colorful mosaic of leaves fade to brown, we know fall is once again collapsing into winter. Though the days are getting shorter, there is no shortage of holiday pomp and pageantry offering the coziest of bright spots.

The Scarlet Pimpernel
The Scarlet Pimpernel is a swashbuckling action and adventure musical based on Baroness Orczy’s famous 20th century novel on the French Revolution and the battle for liberty, equality and fraternity. With an epic story and a rousing score, the show offers a colorful window into 18th century French and British history.

101st Army Band
The 101st Army Band returns for its annual performance in Greeley with a world-class concert honoring our veterans. The band is a component of the Colorado Army National Guard acting as musical ambassadors for the state of Colorado and the United States Army. The 101st Army Concert Band is the largest and most versatile ensemble in the regiment, playing everything from large scale concert pieces to patriotic music and marches.Tickets are free and are limited to four per person while supplies last.

Festival of Trees
A beloved holiday tradition, the Festival of Trees transforms the first and second floors of the Union Colony Civic Center lobbies into a winter wonderland of beautifully decorated trees and displays. The nine-day event features public hours, individual special events, a silent auction, horse carriage rides and a chance to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

Fort Collins Children’s Theatre presents: Elf The Musical
A modern-day holiday classic, “Elf The Musical” follows the tale of Buddy, a young orphan who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. Raised by elves, Buddy eventually learns he’s a human from New York City. When he learns the truth, Buddy embarks on a journey to find his birth father and discover his true identity–all while helping those around him remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Irving Berlin’s White Christmas
Veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis have a successful song-and-dance act after World War II. With romance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters enroute to their Christmas show at a Vermont lodge–which just so happens to be owned by Bob and Phil’s former army commander. Enjoy a dazzling score featuring well-known standards including “Blue Skies,” “I Love A Piano,” “How Deep Is the Ocean” and the perennial title song, “White Christmas.”

The Nutcracker
The Canyon Concert Ballet returns to the stage this December, alongside the Fort Collins Symphony, with the classic Christmas favorite, the Nutcracker. The beloved holiday story follows young Clara who, after falling asleep on Christmas Eve, is transported to a world where toys become larger than life.

A Candlelight Christmas
Larimer Chorale presents Candlelight Christmas, a Fort Collins tradition full of holiday pageantry and wonder. Benjamin Britten’s “A Ceremony of Carols” provides a standout centerpiece, with 12 movements that include eight carols, a harp interlude and a professional and recessional Gregorian chant.

Grammy Award winner Chip Davis created a show that features Mannheim Steamroller Christmas classics in the distinctive Mannheim sound.
