Fort Collins Connexion Launches $20 Student Discount on Local Gigabit Fiber Internet

By: Staff

CSU and Front Range students can now access 1 Gbps fiber internet for only $50/month, no contracts, no data caps, no gimmicks

Fort Collins Connexion, the city’s community-owned fiber internet utility, announced a new student pricing program this summer that takes $20 off any residential internet plan. College students in Fort Collins, including those attending Colorado State University and Front Range Community College, can now get Connexion’s most popular 1 Gbps symmetrical fiber internet for just $50 per month.

The move makes Connexion one of the few municipal broadband providers in the country to offer segment-specific pricing, a strategy more commonly associated with large national carriers that rely on promotional rates, teaser pricing and hidden fees to attract new customers.

“Students are an important part of the Fort Collins community, and they need internet that can keep up with the way they live and learn,” says Jill Marx, marketing and communications manager for Fort Collins Connexion. “This discount helps make reliable, high-speed internet more accessible, with one straightforward student rate that stays in place as long as they’re enrolled.”

What students get

At $50 per month, the discounted Connexion Classic (1 Gbps) plan includes symmetrical upload and download speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps, enough to handle any virtual Zoom lectures, streaming, gaming and research simultaneously. Like all Connexion plans, it comes with:

  • No data caps or throttling
  • Free Wi-Fi router and installation
  • No annual contract or surprise price hikes
  • 24/7 local customer support based in Fort Collins
  • 100 percent private browsing (Connexion never sells user data)

The $20 discount applies to any of the three offered Connexion residential internet plans (classic, enhanced and premier). Students who need more speed can apply the discount to the 2 Gbps Enhanced Plan ($80 per month) or 10 Gbps Premier Plan ($180 per month) tiers as well.

How to sign up

Enrollment is simple and entirely online. Students visit fcconnexion.com/gorams, sign up, select their plan and then are asked to verify their student enrollment through a simple form. No phone calls, no appointments, no heavy paperwork.

Any currently enrolled student at CSU or Front Range Community College, including online students, with a Fort Collins address is eligible. The $20 monthly discount is activated after signing up and verifying enrollment.

Unlike national internet providers that use promotional pricing that expires after 12 or 24 months, Connexion’s student discount does not have a promotional window. Connexion does not use introductory pricing.
