The City of Greeley, in partnership with the Union Colony Exchange Club and the Exchange Club of Greeley, invites the community to the America 250 | Colorado 150 Celebration. The event honors the 250th anniversary of the U.S. and the 150th anniversary of Colorado.
The celebration will take place July 31-Aug. 2 at Bittersweet Park, located at 3501 16th St. in Greeley. Visitors can walk through a field of 400 flags, including 250 American flags and 150 Colorado flags. Each flag will feature a tag that shares an important event in American or Colorado history.
Community ceremony
A community ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, at Bittersweet Park. The program will include:
- Local youth performances
- A reading of the Declaration of Independence
- A recognition of the essay contest winner, who wrote “Why I Am Proud to Be an American”
- And more
“These anniversaries are significant for our country and our state. We wanted to provide a way to demonstrate our patriotism and celebrate our love for both,” says Karen Zack, president of the Union Colony Exchange Club.
The event is free and open to the public. Hot dogs and apple pie will be available after the ceremony while supplies last.
