Houska Automotive Donates 16th Vehicle to Nonprofit Project Self-Sufficiency

Houska Automotive donated its 16th vehicle to Project Self-Sufficiency of Northern Colorado at the June 24 CSU Lagoon Summer Concert Series, presenting PS-S participant Lupe Ybarra with a 2010 Toyota Corolla. PS-S provides single parents residing in Larimer or Weld counties with support and resources to build stable futures for themselves and their children. Ybarra recently graduated and began a full-time career as a radiation therapist with UCHealth Oncology, and the vehicle will allow her to transport her children to school, commute to work and attend essential appointments.

“Project Self-Sufficiency has had the privilege of helping Lupe navigate her educational journey, from earning her GED to completing her associate’s degree in radiologic technology and finishing her bachelor’s degree in radiation therapy,” says Robin Adams, lead advisor for Project Self-Sufficiency. “This generous donation from Houska Automotive has been an incredible help in allowing her to complete her dreams.”

“The Houska Automotive team is proud to be able to donate a vehicle to a Project Self-Sufficiency family for the 16th year,” says Vice President LJ Houska. “Our lives are busy, especially with children. It’s critical to have reliable transportation to keep up with schedules and routines. Hopefully this car will make Lupe’s life a little easier.”

“When my transmission unexpectedly failed shortly after graduation, it created a major obstacle at a time when I was still trying to get financially established,” says Ybarra. “Your kindness and generosity are changing lives, and I am incredibly grateful.”
