Art Takeover the Mall celebrates the transformative power of assemblage and installation art
Louise Cutler Studio Community Art Programs presents “The World, Reassembled: Reflections of Self,” the newest exhibition in the Art Takeover the Mall series at Foothills Mall. Opening July 10 and continuing through Sept. 27, 2026, the exhibition transforms unused storefront windows into immersive public art installations, bringing together artists working in assemblage and installation art.
Curated by artist and curator Louise Cutler, the exhibition celebrates creative practices that challenge traditional ideas of painting and sculpture by transforming found objects, reclaimed materials and everyday elements into works that invite viewers to reconsider the world around them.
While exhibitions dedicated to painting, photography and sculpture are common, opportunities created specifically for assemblage and installation artists are rare. “The World, Reassembled: Reflections of Self” was developed to provide a platform for these artists while introducing Northern Colorado audiences to the richness and diversity of these contemporary art forms.
Rather than viewing art inside a traditional gallery, visitors will discover installations throughout Foothills Mall, where storefront windows become spaces for reflection, imagination and conversation.
“I have always believed that art has the power to transform not only spaces but the way we see ourselves and each other,” says Cutler. “One of the things that excites me most about this exhibition is that it gives a voice to artists working in assemblage and installation, artists whose work is incredibly diverse but whose opportunities to exhibit together are surprisingly limited. Bringing these artists together allows visitors to experience a range of ideas, materials and perspectives while discovering the beauty that can emerge when ordinary objects are given new purpose.”
The exhibition explores themes of identity, memory, transformation, resilience, community, environmental awareness and renewal. Each installation offers its own perspective while contributing to a larger conversation about how lives, experiences and environments are continually being reassembled.
“The World, Reassembled: Reflections of Self” reflects Louise Cutler Studio’s commitment to expanding access to contemporary art by presenting exhibitions in welcoming public spaces.
