The shelter hopes to create kennel space before anticipated increase in lost dogs
With dog kennels nearing capacity ahead of one of the busiest stray intake periods of the year, NOCO Humane is offering 50 percent off adoption fees for all dogs one year and older through Friday, July 3, at each of its three shelter campuses.
The promotion is intended to help more dogs move into homes before the Independence Day holiday, when animal shelters often see an increase in lost pets. Fireworks can cause significant stress and panic for dogs, sometimes prompting them to run from the noise and become separated from their families.
Kennel space at NOCO Humane shelters has become increasingly limited, particularly for large dogs. By placing more adoptable dogs in homes before the holiday, the organization hopes to maintain enough capacity to safely care for stray and lost dogs who may arrive at its Larimer and Weld campuses in the coming days.
Community members who have been considering adoption are encouraged to visit one of NOCO Humane’s shelter campuses before Friday, July 3, to meet available dogs and help create space for animals in need during the holiday week.
While in NOCO Humane’s care, each animal receives:
- Spay/neuter surgery (dogs and cats)
- Preliminary vaccinations
- Microchip implant and registration
- Specialized care as needed
- Daily enrichment
Adopters also receive a range of benefits, including:
- A complimentary post-adoption medical exam from a participating veterinary clinic
- A $40 discount on Rover services, with select trainers offering the first training session at no cost
- A discount on the adopter’s first purchase from Poudre Pet & Feed Supply
- A collar and leash for the trip home (dogs)
Adoptions are handled on a first-come, first-served basis. Potential adopters must visit with the animal of interest in person to be eligible to adopt. To learn more and to view all adoptable dogs, visit nocohumane.org/adopt-a-dog.
