The nonprofit can now fund all scholarship requests for both its youth summer camps
Colorado Youth Outdoors (CYO) received a donation of $54,000 from Phillips 66 Midstream that allows CYO to fully fund all scholarships for its traditional summer camp for 10- to 14-year-olds and its new Pathfinders Leadership Camp, designed for 14- to 15-year-olds. The local nonprofit plans to host 825 kids this summer.
“Every summer at Colorado Youth Outdoors, we get to watch kids learn new skills, build confidence and develop a deeper connection with their peers and the outdoors,” says Luke Brough, executive director of Colorado Youth Outdoors. “Our favorite part of each week of camp is Friday’s family picnic, when campers get to share what they’ve learned with the people they love most. You can see confidence come alive as kids demonstrate, laugh and spend meaningful time together with their families.”
CYO’s focus is on building relationships between youth, their parents/adults and their communities through traditional outdoor recreation. Its programs help youth connect with Colorado’s recreational opportunities, including archery, fishing and shooting sports, to foster strong relationships and help everyone grow and thrive.
“Phillips 66 is proud to support Colorado Youth Outdoors and expand access to summer camp scholarships that open doors for young people and their families,” says Travis Brown, director of operations for Phillips 66 Midstream. “These experiences build confidence, foster connection to the outdoors and create lasting friendships. By removing financial barriers, we’re helping ensure more youth in our community can learn, grow and thrive.”
“Thanks to the generosity of Phillips 66, even more families across Northern Colorado will have the opportunity to experience those moments together,” Brough says. “We’re incredibly grateful for their partnership and investment in the next generation.”
