Greg Metzo has joined Waypoint Bank, which serves all of Northern Colorado. At 6′ 9″, Metzo has been known as the “tallest banker in Northern Colorado” for the past 21 years. However, when it comes to helping clients structure and manage their loan portfolios, he is known for his down-to-earth approach.

“Greg’s knowledge of the Northern Colorado market, connections, and credit skills were some of the stand-out characteristics that led us to choose him to be a part of our team,” said Dave Besch, Northern Colorado Branch President. “He takes pride in supporting business owners and entrepreneurs with their financial needs and helping his banking colleagues learn the credit process and underwrite loans.”

“I’m honored and extremely grateful that Dave invited me to return to my roots in community banking,” Metzo said. “Relationships drive community bankers. I’m also involved with the North Fort Collins Business Association, Habitat for Humanity and Realities For Children.”

Greg began his banking career in New Mexico before relocating to Fort Collins 21 years ago. Over the years, he has held positions at several banks including First Interstate Bank and US Bank before joining Waypoint Bank. His professional honors include the Exemplary Credit Professionals recognition at First Interstate and the Legends of Possible Award at US Bank.

He takes pride in supporting business owners and entrepreneurs with their financial needs and helping colleagues learn the credit process and underwrite loans. “I’m honored and extremely grateful that Dave invited me to return to my roots in community banking,” Metzo said.

“Community bankers are driven by relationships,” he added. “With 21 years in Northern Colorado at five bank organizations, I have a unique and common-sense approach to helping business owners.”

Greg volunteers with several nonprofit organizations including the North Fort Collins Business Association, Habitat for Humanity and Realities for Children. He has been married to Shauna for 40 years and has two children, Britney and Derek, along with their 12-year-old Pit Bull Terrier Lilly.

Greg credits his ability to solve complex issues for clients to his experience as one of five siblings. “I’m happy to work at a family-owned bank where I’m also a valued family member. This is where I belong,” he said.
