The City of Greeley Recreation will host its first sneak peek of summer camp offerings at the Summer Showcase from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, April 26, at the Greeley Recreation Center.
Greeley Recreation offers a variety of camps in June, July and August. This year’s summer lineup includes baseball, tennis, climbing, swim lessons, ice hockey, figure skating, junior golf and multi-sport camps.
Greeley Recreation also partners with local organizations, like Skyhawks, which is offering basketball, volleyball, flag football, a SuperTots Sampler and beginning cheer; and NorCo Rush and Challenger, which are both offering soccer.
Activities
At the summer showcase, kids will be able to experience several summer camps for ages 2-14 before they enroll:
- Take a sample swim lesson (bring a swimsuit!)
- Boulder on the indoor climbing wall
- Skate on synthetic ice
- Learn to shoot a hockey puck in the net
- Practice tennis techniques with tennis pro Todd Edwards
- Shoot hoops on the basketball court
Parents can get a discount on camps and meet staff leading more than 15 sports-based camps. There is also the option to have children tested for the appropriate level of swim lessons before registration.
“We decided to showcase every possible camp we have this summer so parents can get a better feel for what their children will enjoy by allowing them to try them out,” says Zach Kilimann, sports and programs supervisor. “There are so many options that it can be difficult to decide, and this way, young athletes are exposed to things they may not have readily chosen.”
The Summer Showcase at the Greeley Recreation Center, 651 10th Ave., is free to attend and open to residents and non-residents.
