On Friday, December 13th, celebrate the world of art and photography through Friday Night On The Town with desk chair. desk chair will be featuring Mike Emanuele, local rock and roll photographer. Mike Emanuele, of Fort Collins–based photography business Backstage Flash, has spent his life working towards a moment his artistic expression can be displayed in comprehensive manner. His passion for rock and roll music came early, while his passion to be part of it artistically developed over the next 40 years.
“I love to shoot interesting subjects,” says Emanuele. “I try to look for moments of dynamic energy. I want to connect the music to the audience with an image in a subtle way. I always knew I’d be in the music business. It just took me a little longer than I anticipated.” This collection of photographic prints represents his passion for photography. The clearly refined eye of a photographer who has been in the trenches, experiencing life and appreciating art at the finest level is obvious in every print hanging. It took time of not seeing through a photographer’s lens to create the look, which has defined Emanuele as the pre-eminent rock photographer in Colorado.
His tireless nights of shooting, editing and delivery of timely content has set him apart. Emanuele always loved rock music and grew up in the Bronx when it was gritty and dirty and AM radio was king. In 1970, when he was eight years old, he was sitting on his front porch with his transistor radio when he first heard “Satisfaction” by the Rolling Stones. “That opening guitar riff immediately got my attention,” he recalls. “I thought to myself, What is this? Hearing that song changed my life.” You can see more of of Backstage Flash on December 13th at 6 P.M. at desk chair workspace in downtown Loveland.
