If you watched Tiger Woods win his 5th green jacket over the weekend, you may have been wondering: Is that cacophony of bird chirps you hear in the background live, or is it Memorex? The network insists those are real tweets emanating from the pines of Augusta National, but a bird expert from the Cornell Lab or Ornithology isn’t sold. We normally wouldn’t care either way, but this item neatly ties together our April feature about NOCO golf and our upcoming May feature on birdwatching.
Speaking of that April links feature, reader Dan McGlothlin pointed out an oversight: Mountain Vista Greens, a 9-hole layout that’s been part of the Fort Collins golf scene for about 30 years. Dan writes:
It possesses a challenge for all skill levels and provides a wonderful park-like experience (similar, I would say to City Park Nine). It has all the amenities offered that other courses have, and the owners emphasize customer service, quality golf experience, and involvement in the community. Mountain Vista hosts numerous middle-school golf teams each spring, possesses a first-rate practice facility, and hosts numerous tournaments for local charities.
If you’re curious why they called it “Mountain Vista,” stand on the 9th tee and you’ll get the idea. Here’s a virtual flyover of the 9th hole, courtesy Google Earth:
