Fall is in the air, which means autumn leaves, pumpkin pie and…beer. Fort Collins craft brewers New Belgium and Odell Brewing Co. have announced several enticing seasonal selections. In addition to its Atomic Pumpkin Ale, New Belgium has rolled out its limited edition Oakspire Bourbon Barrel Ale, the product of a collaboration with Knob Creek bourbon distillery. Drinkers will note smooth notes of toffee, vanilla and caramel wrap up with a pleasantly warm finish, perfect for crisp fall weather. Careful, it clocks in at 9 percent alcohol by volume. Meanwhile, Odell Brewing Co. has the last of its Oktoberfest Marzen-style Lager on limited rotation, as well as Cloud Catcher Milkshake IPA, described as an emerging substyle of New England IPA. The addition of milk sugars, i.e., lactose, gives the IPA a full-bodied, velvety feel. And what to pair with all that delicious ale? Rocky Mountain Pecans is offering a pumpkin pie-flavored pecan, which is being carried at Ginger & Bakers, or available online at www.rockymountainpecans.com. The field of Italian restaurants in Fort Collins has grown by one. Oregano’s Pizza Bistro had a soft opening last month at 4235 S. College Ave., marking the chain’s first expansion outside of Arizona, as well as the first location within Colorado. Oregano’s first restaurant opened in Scottsdale in 1993, and quickly established its reputation for thin-crust pizza. The restaurants’ interiors feature vintage signs, collectibles and curios that help create a carefully crafted ambiance

Here’s a novel approach for the aspiring art connoisseur: Art for rent. Voilà Fine Art Rental was launched by Heather Matthews and Jane Basile, both artists in their own right, when Jane realized how much art was sitting idle in her studio. Now in its infancy, Voilà works with Northern Colorado artists and customers to provide a personal service to both. Rentals of original fine art are available for short, medium or longer terms with increasing price incentives, and clients are given credit toward sales if they decide to purchase the pieces outright. Clients can have the pieces delivered and installed, and can also arrange to rotate out the art for new pieces to keep their space looking fresh and interesting. There are now more options for advanced cancer treatment in Northern Colorado. Banner Health recently announced an extended partnership with MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, the top-rated cancer center in U.S. News & World Report’s annual “Best Hospitals” survey. The new centers, which had soft openings in August, are located at McKee Medical Center in Loveland and North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.

In 1991, OFC was formally incorporated as a performing arts company with Elliott as artistic director. All operas are presented in the original languages.
