Hard Knocks Boxers Win at House of Pain Smoker

April 9, 2018 (Greeley, CO) – Three boxers that train at the Rodarte Community Center’s Hark Knocks Boxing Club defeated their opponents in their bouts at the House of Pain East Boxing Show on March 24th in Denver. All three boxers took home Champion Belts in their age groups. Results were impressive and these three boxers will be competing in the Colorado State Golden Gloves Tournament in Northglenn April 9-15.

Josiah Hererra, age 12, defeated Martin Bustillos, age 12, of Stick and Move (Colorado) by a 5-0 decision. Josiah attends Heath Middle School in Greeley.

Christian Hernandez, age 13, defeated Andres Carrillo, age 11, of La Familia (Colorado) by a 5-0 decision. Christian is a student at Bella Romero Academy School in Greeley.

Eric Berumen, age 22, defeated Kendall Harris, age 26, from Texas by a 5-0 decision. Eric is an employee at the City of Greeley.

Glenn DePriest, is the Boxing Coach at the Rodarte Community Center and is a firm believer of having fun while students learn the fundamentals of the sport and basic techniques to help them prepare for the ring. “Area youth and adults that participate in the Hard Knocks Boxing Program have the option of competing or not, it is entirely up to them, there’s no pressure to do so. Those individuals that have fought this year, really worked hard and we are so proud of how well they have performed,” said DePriest.

The Rodarte Community Center’s boxing program offers both a recreational and competitive track for youth and adults wanting to learn or compete in the sport.
