4th Annual Dia de Muertos Community Celebration in Old Town Square

The BIPOC Alliance, in collaboration with Poudre Libraries and ISAAC NOCO, is thrilled to host the 4th Annual Dia de Muertos Community Celebration on Thursday, November 2nd, in Old Town Square. This free event is an opportunity for the community to come together to honor and remember loved ones who have passed, in the beautiful and vibrant tradition of Dia de Muertos.

Event Highlights

  • Community Altar (10 a.m. start): Visit our growing community altar, a cherished space for offering remembrances and honoring ancestors. Everyone is welcome to contribute, whether by placing a remembrance in person or submitting photos for our virtual altar, allowing people near and far to participate. Photo submissions can be made online.
  • Face Painting & Hot Chocolate: Face painting, a key part of Dia de Muertos celebrations, symbolizes the connection between life and death, with colorful skull designs honoring the cycle of life. Free face painting will be available throughout the day, along with hot chocolate to keep you warm and cozy.
  • Live Performances: Experience dynamic cultural performances, including traditional Azteca dancers, whose ceremonial movements bring Mexico’s rich cultural history to life. The day’s performances will culminate with a special appearance by Juan Pablo Casillas, a talented singer who was featured on American Idol. His powerful voice and captivating performance will be the perfect close to a day filled with music and celebration.
  • Evening Procession: Join us for a heartfelt evening procession as we come together to honor our loved ones who have passed. This communal walk will mark the end of the celebration and provide an opportunity for reflection and remembrance.

There are many ways to get involved! We are currently seeking volunteers to help make this event a success, from setting up to assisting with activities throughout the day. Additionally, we are looking for sponsors to support this meaningful community gathering.
