The OBC Wine Project earns six gold medals across two competitions
The OBC Wine Project has earned its highest recognition yet: A spot in the 2024 Governor’s Cup Collection. This represents Colorado’s best wines of the year, determined by a panel of 15 judges made up of sommeliers, winemakers and wine writers.
The OBC Wine Project opened in 2020, adjacent to the Odell Brewing Co.’s Fort Collins production facility. The winery launched with canned wine and has since expanded into small-batch bottled offerings, all crushed, fermented and packaged in Fort Collins. The tasting room and wine bar offers a place for wine lovers in Northern Colorado to try a diverse selection of wines, plus their popular spritzes and frosés.
“Developing strong relationships with vineyards in Colorado, Oregon and Washington has been a key component of our success in crafting quality wines,” says Travis Green, who has been winemaker at The OBC Wine Project since 2020. “We’ve already crushed the first fruit of the 2024 harvest; we’re excited for another vintage that will allow us to explore what’s possible in modern wine.”
This year brought strong recognition of the quality that Green and the entire team have been able to bring to the project. At the 2024 Governor’s Cup, The OBC Wine Project earned six medals, plus inclusion in the Governor’s Cup Collection. At the 2024 International Canned Wine Competition, the urban winery earned three gold medals for its wines, plus a Best of Show for its Colorado Fizz blend and recognition for its colorful and dynamic packaging that celebrates the art of fermentation.
“We’re proud to be producing quality wine here locally. It is icing on the cake to be recognized for that work, and we hope it helps position our wines to become a high-quality mainstay in Colorado wine lovers’ cellars for years to come,” Green says.
