Loveland Rubber Duck Race Supports Community Service Projects

The Loveland Rotary Club’s Rubber Duck Race, now in its 29th year, has not only been a perennial favorite during the Corn Roast Festival in Loveland and the surrounding area, but it has raised tens of thousands of dollars every year to help fund beneficial programs, including:

  • Postsecondary scholarships (both for college and vocational education)
  • Literacy projects in Thompson School District (provided free dictionaries for kids, equipped computer labs in schools and most recently provided free books for preschool kids via Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library)
  • Leadership training camps for area youth (at YMCA of the Rockies)
  • Funding for many other situational needs in our community (a pandemic relief fund during the COVID years, and in 2024, a relief fund for victims of the Alexander Mountain Fire)

The wellspring of community involvement in the Rubber Duck Race includes the generous and loyal support of many business sponsors that underwrite the event year after year, including those in our healthcare community. Sandy Richards is senior practice manager for Banner Health’s Aspen Internal Medicine Clinic. What she had to say about the Duck Race echoes the sentiments of many sponsors: “Banner Health is honored to be a 2024 sponsor for the Rotary Club of Loveland Duck Race. Banner Health appreciates and supports organizations that give back to the community.”

Like Banner, UCHealth is also a major sponsor of the Loveland Rubber Duck Race and all it does.

This year’s race will once be held before a live audience of cheering local residents on the banks of the Big Thompson River near Fairgrounds Park and Railroad Avenue at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, during the Corn Roast Festival. Tickets (donations) can still be obtained online at lovelandduckrace.com and at the duck race booth at the festival.
