2023 Colorado Tiny House Festival Returns to Brighton, Colo. on Sat., June 24 and Sun., June 25, 2023
The Colorado Tiny House Festival is returning for its sixth year on the sprawling grounds of the Riverdale Regional Park in Brighton, Colo. on Sat., June 24, and Sun., June 25, 2023. At the largest tiny house and alternative living event in the region, guests will be able to step inside a large variety of small living structures, learn from tiny home builders, sustainable living and RV experts, meet DIYers and people living tiny full-time, and see the latest trends in tiny living and unique RVs.
This tiny home show blends the spirit of the tiny living movement with the most up-to-date information on going tiny, simplifying your life, minimalistic living, and living greener. Unique small living structures will be spread throughout the Colorado Tiny House Festival grounds and include an assortment of professional builds, DIY builds, and Camping Corner which specifically showcases ways people can camp or “glamp” in style. Each structure features its own, one-of-a-kind floor plan, décor, and remarkable use of space.
Additionally, attendees will enjoy expert speaker presentations, a product and service marketplace, a tiny taste of Colorado food truck court, and more.
Making the event more timely than ever, is the passage of House Bill 22-1242 on July 1, 2023. “This new legislation will make tiny home living in Colorado a more viable option,” said Art Laubach, Colorado Tiny House Festival organizer. “The legislation will protect consumers by setting standards for tiny home building and manufacturing in Colorado.”
“The legislation will also provide a path for counties to recognize tiny homes as permanent dwellings and open up financing opportunities,” Laubach continued. There are several places where tiny home living is already legal in Colorado including El Paso County, Park County, Durango, Leadville, Lyons and Woodland Park.
A home is typically considered “tiny” if it has less than 400 square feet of living space, although some of our showcased tiny homes are larger, and not all of them are on wheels. Regardless, all of the small spaces showcased at the event are in contrast to average American homes, which have grown larger over time despite shrinking family sizes. Tiny homes deliberately push the edge of low-space living and feature financial advantages, including low construction and land costs, low utilities, and upkeep.
