Alternatives to Violence kicked off October Domestic Violence Awareness Month with their event, Paws & Reflect at Loveland’s Foote Lagoon. The event served to generate awareness for domestic violence, specifically spotlighting the fact that many victims delay leaving their abusers out of fear that their pets will be harmed. Participants and their pets enjoyed a walk around the Foote Lagoon, live music, and getting tips about training, products and services from local pet businesses. Loveland Mayor Jacki Marsh read a proclamation declaring October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Loveland. Mrs. Colorado Petite, Allie Pressler, shared a story on how her pets provided comfort during her personal experience with domestic violence.
