As major horror buffs and monster fans, WeldWerks Brewing Co. has teamed up with Distortions Unlimited, a Halloween manufacturing company and online store that crafts high quality, artistic, and durable animatronics, props, masks, costumes and displays for the entertainment industry, haunted houses, theme parks, horror fans, and more, since 1978.
Every year Distortions Unlimited creates a new Greeley Gremlin for Monster Day, an annual Downtown Greeley event that includes music, art, food, entertainment, and costumes that celebrate all things “monster.” Inspired by this year’s Gremlin creation, the Greeley-based duo created Greeley Gremlin: Rex’s Revenge, a sour ale brewed with cherry, vanilla and natural flavors, that releases on Friday, August 19 at WeldWerks Brewing—just in time for Monster Day on August 20.
“Every year the Greeley Gremlin has not only changed shapes but has changed its primary color. Our goal with this beer was to match the color of Rex, this year’s Greeley Gremlin, with a highly drinkable session sour ale,” says WeldWerks Head Brewer Skip Schwartz. “We thought that cherry vanilla would offer a nice red hue like Rex while also providing a late summer flavor that many will enjoy.”
$1 of every Greeley Gremlin: Rex’s Revenge draft pint sold will be donated to Monster Day’s beneficiary Don’t Be a Monster, a national nonprofit that organizes programs to raise awareness about bullying prevention for students in 4th-10th grade in schools throughout the United States. The beer releases at WeldWerks on August 19, and it will also be available in cans and on draft at participating bars, restaurants and liquor stores in Northern Colorado and Boulder. Check the brewery’s beer finder for more information on availability.
“We’re huge fans of Distortions Unlimited! So having the opportunity to create a beer inspired by a Greeley Gremlin is very exciting!”
