At the beginning of August, 32 teams of four golfed in honor of Dr. Stan Scheer to provide gap funding for Thompson School District (TSD) students. The event took place at Mariana Butte Golf Course, where golfers had a chance at winning multiple prizes and participated in the silent auction. While Scheer was superintendent of TSD for five years, he often reached into his own pocket to help students. His spirit and generosity will continue with the Dr. Stan Scheer Memorial Student Opportunity Fund. This fund will give students the opportunity to practice leadership, participate in academic extracurricular activities and ensure opportunities despite financial barriers.
