The Matthews House is Holding Hope

An update from The Matthews House regarding COVID-19 and our annual gala, Cultivate Hope:

The Matthews House mission is to empower youth and families by providing resources and building trusting relationships to disrupt cycles of poverty and abuse, AND we will continue this mission through these unprecedented times and beyond. Our biggest annual fundraiser, Cultivate Hope, scheduled for May 8th, has been canceled in the interest of public health and safety.

Nonetheless, The Matthews House is continuing to serve our youth and families, who are in even greater need during this crisis. We have launched the Holding Hope campaign to ask the community for support to continue necessary services Stable housing, food security, employment support, and basic necessities are quickly emerging as immediate needs for our families. While abiding by social distancing practices, our staff has responded by providing food boxes, facilitating connections with community resources, and remaining a consistent trusting relationship through telecommunications. Every day we continue working hard to protect the vulnerable populations we serve.

For the Holding Hope campaign, The Richardson Foundation has graciously provided a $50,000 match towards our goal of $200,000 between now and May 8. We ask you to stand with us in supporting our youth and families as we work with them in navigating getting their basic needs met. We continue to stand beside them, and we ask you to join us. Sign up for our newsletter or follow us on social media where we will be sharing our current needs, the ways our staff continue to engage with participants, as well as inspirational stories highlighting resilience.
