One of the hot new design trends is exemplified in a home in Timnath’s luxury Harmony Club development. Modern Scandinavian farmhouse style features clean lines accentuated by raw materials such as wood, stone and natural fibers, and is right at home in Northern Colorado. The four-bedroom, four-bathroom house at 4190 Grand Park Drive is a sprawling 4,840-square-foot ranch on the third fairway, listed at $1.095 million. The house features the same attention to detail and thoughtful design found in every Custom On-Site Builders Inc. home.

Kurt Skott, president of Custom On-Site Builders, specializes in custom and semi-custom homes. He is currently building at Harmony Club, as well as the golf communities of Heron Lakes in Loveland and Mariana Ridge in Berthoud. Skott, who has been in the business since 1992, builds homes ranging from $650,000 to $2 million. “I like developing plans, meeting with people and customizing homes to fit their needs and building them to their tastes and style of living,” he said. “We’re flexible and adaptable and known for doing a quality build at a fair price.”

The home at Harmony Club includes a gourmet kitchen, an entertainment area in the basement, and a covered outdoor living space on the back patio with gas fire pit.

Wood finishes include custom knotty alder cabinets, solid doors and trim and extended wide-plank, vintage-style hardwood in the kitchen, dining room, office, halls and half-bath. The dining room and master bedroom feature coffered ceilings with crown molding.

The property is fully landscaped with a four-car, 1,202 square-foot garage. Amenities include a central vacuum system and dual-zone heating. It is pre-wired for surround sound and security.

Diane Mohn of Loveland Design Carpet One Floor & Home collaborated on the flooring and tile selection. In business for 38 years, she’s provided and installed materials for hundreds of Custom On-Site homes. “This was a great project to get to work on,” she said. “We used a lot of different, fun designs and ideas and the whole home came together so well. The unique tiles, with textures and patterns, fit in and integrate so well, but they’re not what you typically see. The ability to step out and consider some different options and take a bit of a risk really paid off in the final product. I always enjoy working with Custom On-Site.”

Myriad details came together for the final product. For Shane Skott, project superintendent at Custom On-Site Builders, the acid-stained basement floor and custom vinyl garage floor stand out, along with the glass sliding barn doors in the bathrooms, shower flooring flush with the bathroom floor for ease of access, and a five-piece master bath with a soaking tub inside the shower enclosure.

Mohn appreciates the textured wall tile with its wave pattern in the master bath, the linear design of the wall tiles in the powder bath and the arabesque pattern in the three-quarter-bath wall tile. She also likes glass tile backsplashes throughout, the fun accent wall above the kitchen stove, and the patterned monochromatic tile in the basement wet bar along with the character of the wood flooring.

The last piece was the interior design and staging by interior designer Ann Oetting of Littleton-based Atreyu Interiors. Oetting is especially proud of the home’s “approachable glamour with understated freshness and ease that will make you feel like it’s always Sunday.”

“You really get some special features in a home working with Kurt that you’d normally have to go through a design-build process for,” she added. “Beautiful touches like the ceiling details, upgraded light fixtures, plumbing and cabinet hardware [create] a bespoke feel, like someone spent two years with the builder getting all the details just right.”

Homes here have stunning views of the surrounding landscape and the Front Range.

Working with Custom On-Site
Working with a custom builder like Kurt begins with an appointment. “We have a checklist we will go through with you, and we encourage you to bring as much information as you can with you on what you are seeking,” he said. “We work with folks who have land ready, who are looking, who are interested in specific subdivisions, and those who are just looking around to see what’s out there. We try to help everyone we can.”

With a core team of eight employees and a roster of 20 to 25 subcontractors and suppliers, some with Custom On-Site for 20 years, Kurt says, he and his team truly care about their relationships and reputation. “I try to treat people how I want to be treated–fairly. It’s not all about me, it’s about us and the journey,” he said.
