The Lagoon Summer Concert Series is excited to kick off the series on June 19 with old-school funk band The Jakarta Band. The concert will take place on the west lawn of the Lory Student Center at CSU and run from 6-8:30 p.m.
This Denver based R&B/Funk/Soul/Disco/Hip-Hop band has performed all over the world, from weddings to Inaugural Balls in Washington, DC. Band manager Isaac Points has been performing for the last 35 years, opening for Stanley Clark and playing bass with Tony Bennett. Over the years, his skill and knowledge of funk music has only improved. He’s explored numerous styles and gained experience working in Denver’s local clubs since the age of 17. Today, the large band makes music with the bass, sax, trumpet, keyboard, trombone, and more!
Opening for The Jakarta Band is a wonderful member of the Little Kids Rock group: Talia Lima. Each week, a different group from Little Kids Rock performs at 6 p.m. and welcomes the headliner bands to the stage.
Attendees can enjoy food from various food trucks at each concert. The food truck lineup on June 19 consists of The Taco Stop, Bigs Meat Wagon, The Goodness Truck, The Human Bean Coffee Truck, and Repicci’s Italian Ice & Gelato.
Lagoon runs for seven weeks throughout the summer and features a variety of music styles including country, reggae, folk, rock, and more. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets for an enjoyable evening of free music. Residents should be cautioned that there is no parking allowed on Plum Drive.
