Can’d Aid’s Fishin’ With a Musician Fundraiser is Back

Bid on a dream fishing experience with your favorite musicians and support Can’d Aid’s mission to increase access to music and music education in communities nationwide

Sure, anglers have a tendency to exaggerate, but this really is a whopper of a fundraiser. Can’d Aid’s biggest, most beloved fundraising event of the year is back: Fishin’ With a Musician (FWAM) offers music lovers a once-in-a-lifetime chance to go fishing with their favorite musician. From Oct. 22 through Nov. 5, the online benefit auction allows fans to bid on a special day of angling with an artist. Click here for full details.

Can’d Aid is the national nonprofit dedicated to amplifying the power of music for inspiration, learning and wellbeing. Through Instruments for Change, Can’d Aid donates brand-new instruments and provides music teacher grants to underserved school districts nationwide, with 4,860 instruments and 199 music programs supported so far. Award-winning touring artists work alongside Can’d Aid as Tunes Ambassadors, supporting kids in the arts with instrument donations, hands-on workshops and special events like FWAM.

The brainchild of Tunes Ambassador Arthur Hancock IV, FWAM brings together his two favorite passions, music and fishing, to support his favorite charity. Building on the auction’s growing popularity, this year’s offerings include VIP experiences with Elizabeth Cook, a South Carolina coastal redfish excursion with members of Clay Street Unit and Mountain Grass Unit and the Ultimate Kentucky Experience with hosts Steve Zahn, Hancock and Kentucky historian Beau Spicer, featuring world-class bass fishing and VIP tours of Keeneland Racetrack and Castle and Key Distillery. For those who like to measure their fish in pounds rather than inches, there’s also a trip to legendary Boxwood Gulch Ranch in Colorado with CJ Cain, Rodney Elkins and other members of The Food Stamps. And if you are mostly interested in the musical part of the experience, be sure to check out Della Mae and Sister Sadie’s houseboat hang in Tennessee with room for six guests.

Winning bids will secure a half-day guided fishing experience followed by a unique, intimate post-fishing performance with the artist. FWAM makes an unforgettable experience for yourself or a fantastic gift for the music lover in your life—no fishing experience necessary. The online auction runs Oct. 22 through Nov. 5, and the events will take place at various locations across the U.S.

“If you appreciate the outdoors, live music and supporting kids’ access to the arts, this is the perfect event for you. Fishin’ with a Musician generates a lot of smiles, great memories and much-needed resources for underserved kids,” says Diana Hicks, executive director of Can’d Aid.

Can’d Aid is hooked on doing good. Funds raised through Fishin’ with a Musician help get brand-new instruments into the hands of the next generation of musicians through Instruments for Change. Bid on a Fishin’ with a Musician experience today, and support Can’d Aid here.
