Loveland is going to the dogs with the return of Dog Days of Summer, a full day of activities celebrating local pups and the people who love them. The event takes place Saturday, Sept. 26, in downtown Loveland, bringing together dogs, their owners, local businesses and pet-friendly vendors for a day of fun. All friendly, leashed dogs are welcome to participate. From puppy yoga and a pet parade to Yappy Hour, live music and a doggy costume contest, Dog Days of Summer offers plenty of ways for the community to enjoy one of the final weekends of summer with their four-legged friends.
The festivities begin with puppy yoga led by local fitness studio Fly Fitness. Registration is required for this event, and all proceeds will benefit the nonprofit bringing the puppies. Following yoga, dogs and their
humans can take part in Paws on Parade, a pet parade beginning and ending at Backyard Tap, located at 323 N. Railroad Ave. The parade will travel east along 4th Street to Thompson Pocket Park, where downtown businesses and pet-friendly vendors will be set up before participants head back west on 4th Street to Backyard Tap for Yappy Hour. Costumes are encouraged for pups looking to make a statement.
From 12-3 p.m., Backyard Tap and Loveland Aleworks will open their patios for Yappy Hour, creating the ulti-mutt dog party. The afternoon will feature drink specials, live music at both locations, a doggy costume
contest, swag bags, giveaways, a dog adoption opportunity, food trucks, pet vendors and more. The Doggy Costume Contest will take place on the Backyard Tap stage, with prizes awarded for best-dressed pup and best group costume. Contest entry begins at 12 p.m., with judging at 12:30 p.m.
“Dog Days of Summer is a great way to bring the community together and celebrate one of the things that makes downtown Loveland such a welcoming place: There’s room for everyone, including our four-legged friends,” says Nicole Fellure, event manager for of the Loveland Downtown District. “We’re looking forward to filling downtown with dogs, their people and plenty of summer fun.”
