A Woman’s Place announced a major milestone in its capital campaign, opening the doors of two new facilities that will transform domestic violence services across Weld County. The local nonprofit is now just $250,000 away from fully completing fundraising for the project.
The capital campaign funded the construction of a new safehouse and a community outreach building designed to expand shelter capacity, strengthen prevention efforts and provide comprehensive support for survivors and their families.
The new safehouse doubles shelter capacity and increases ADA accessibility so more survivors can find immediate safety and fewer individuals and families are turned away. The facility includes private bedrooms, dedicated spaces for children and communal areas designed to promote healing and stability.
In addition, the new community outreach building expands prevention education and crisis advocacy services, allowing the organization to reach more individuals before violence escalates and to support survivors as they rebuild safe, healthy futures.
“Every dollar raised ensures that survivors have a safe place to get help,” says Diane Heldt, executive director of A Woman’s Place. “These buildings are places of healing, stability and new beginnings. We are so grateful for our community that made this possible.”
While construction is complete and services are expanding, the organization continues to raise the final funds needed to fully equip and sustain the facilities.
“Completing this final phase of funding with donor support allows us to open our doors without taking on debt,” says Katie Shilts, chair of the agency’s board of directors. “That ensures we can direct our precious financial resources to serving survivors instead of paying for debt.”
The project represents a significant investment in domestic violence services in Weld County, expanding the region’s ability to provide immediate shelter, prevention education and long-term support for survivors.
