Greeley’s signature summer tradition is expanding. This July, the community will celebrate the Arts Picnic as part of Culture Pop. The new four-day festival will highlight arts, culture and creativity throughout downtown Greeley.
The Greeley Arts Picnic draws artists, musicians and performers from across the region. The event has been a staple of Greeley’s summer calendar for 47 years. This year, the inaugural Culture Pop event will surround the Arts Picnic with events designed to highlight Greeley’s creative community.
The festival kicks off from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 23, at the Atlas Events Center with a presentation by Colorado Poet Laureate Crisosto Apache. The evening also features a culture keynote address from Greeley arts and culture advocate Rebecca Safarik.
On Friday, festivities continue with Friday Fest from 6:30-9:30 p.m. in 9th Street Plaza.
Saturday launches with two community favorites: the Greeley Farmers’ Market starting at 8 a.m. and the Arts Picnic in Lincoln Park from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. New this year? The Spoon Circus offers fun for kids, and a community art tent offers hands-on art projects to visitors of all ages.
Saturday night brings more free live entertainment starting at 6:30 p.m. Rootbeer Richie will perform from 8-9:30 p.m.in the Union Colony Civic Center parking lot. The band has performed their Louisiana rhythm and blues sound with a pop edge at the Telluride Blues Festival and Boulder Roots Music Festival.
The final day of the Arts Picnic will take place from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday, July 26. Enjoy music and performances on two stages, sample food trucks from the region and sip a cool beer as the weekend comes to a close.
Culture Pop is part of Colorado’s 250/150 year anniversary events. It shows that the city’s vibrant arts and culture scene is for everyone—and worth celebrating. All events are free and open to the public.
