Wellington Swears in New Mayor and Trustees

The Town of Wellington welcomed a new mayor, two new trustees and a returning trustee to its board during a swearing-in ceremony

Earlier this month, during the 2026 municipal election, Wellington voters elected Rebekka Dailey as the town’s new mayor, elected Aaron Blackstone and Kendra Barrett to fill trustee seats and re-elected Brian Mason to a second term as trustee. The four were sworn into their new positions on Tuesday. Dailey is moving from a Trustee’s seat—one she held since 2020—to the mayor’s seat. All will serve four-year terms in their new roles.

During Tuesday’s meeting, board members interviewed two resident applicants and selected Sofia Moore to fill a trustee vacancy created when Dailey became mayor. Moore, who ran for trustee in this month’s election and narrowly missed being elected, was also sworn in. She will serve the final two years of the trustee term Dailey was elected to in 2024.

Finally, Mason was re-appointed by the board to serve as mayor pro tem. It’s a position Mason—who was first elected trustee in 2022—has occupied since 2024.

“Wellington voters elected an incredible group of residents to serve on this board—a true dream team,” Mayor Dailey said. “It’s an honor to get that kind of mandate from the people of Wellington, and I couldn’t be more excited to stand side by side with the other board members as we work to move our town forward.”

What’s next

Wellington’s new board of trustees will continue to gather for regular meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month, and for work sessions at 6:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month, all in the Leeper Center Board Room.
