LOUDframe Film Festival Launches in Northern Colorado

By: Staff

The weekend-long film festival will celebrate composers, musicians, sound designers and filmmakers whose work elevates film at The Lyric

Founded under the nonprofit Horsetooth Organization, LOUDframe was created to bring two worlds together in Northern Colorado: our love of music and our ever-growing film industry.

LOUDframe is a three-day film festival, held this year from May 22-24, taking place at the adored Lyric theater and celebrating filmmakers, musicians and artists alike. The festival will kick off with a cocktail party on Friday night. Afterward, guests will have access to the Colorado premier of “Margaret the Brave.”

Saturday will launch with a family-friendly hour with crafts, bubbles and local food trucks. That day will be filled with panels, workshops and viewings of submitted films from around the state and country. Saturday night will feature live performances by local bands and musicians along with the premiers of their long-awaited music videos.

Sunday will be a recap day for anyone who wants to catch up on films they missed or rewatch favorites. Sunday night will be the big finale award show, plus more local live performances and networking.

“Northern Colorado has an incredible music scene and a growing film community, but they haven’t always had a shared space. LOUDframe is about bringing those worlds together and putting sound at the center of the cinematic experience,” says Jesse Nyander, founder of the Horsetooth Organization and frontrunner of the Horsetooth International Film festival.

Festival lineup

Friday night’s black-tie opening gala will feature ’80s-inspired six-piece synth pop duo, Gemini Moon.

Saturday, during the day, earth-folk singer Haley Harkin and surf-punk, genderqueer, open-mic rat Mallory Graham will take the stage followed by music video premiers and live performances that night by pop singer-songwriter Bailey Mae and experimental jazz-rap band IIes.

Sunday will feature soothing indie pop artist Dead Failure and genre-agnostic eclectic singer-songwriter Shadow Animal during the day. Finishing out the festival, post-rock band myriaD.F. will play after the awards ceremony for the closing night party.

Tickets are now on sale and cost $25 for a day pass and $50 for a weekend pass. Tickets can be bought at filmfreeway.com/loudframe/tickets.
