April 21-June 30, Artist Reception 5-8 p.m. April 24
The Inside Out Pop-Up Art Exhibit, curated by Louise Cutler, opens April 21 at Foothills Mall, launching the next phase of the Art Takeover at the Mall initiative. Running through June 30, this dynamic exhibition transforms storefront windows into curated visual experiences, creating meaningful connections between artists and the public in an unexpected setting.
Rather than viewing transitional retail spaces as unoccupied, Inside Out approaches them as places waiting to be filled. Through the installation of original artwork behind storefront windows, the exhibition activates shared space and invites visitors to engage with art from both inside and outside the mall. The result is a series of visual moments that interrupt routine, encourage reflection and foster community connection.
See more than 50 original fine art pieces of art by 11 different artists in one location, offering a diverse range of styles, mediums and perspectives. This concentrated presentation creates a unique opportunity for visitors to experience a wide variety of artistic voices within a single, accessible environment.
“Art is a tool for communication,” says curator Louise Cutler. “By introducing art into spaces that might otherwise go unnoticed, we breathe life into the environment and create opportunities for connection. The goal is to occupy space in a meaningful way—bringing vision, purpose and engagement into everyday public experience.”
The exhibition represents a growing partnership between Foothills Mall and the regional art community. Together, this collaboration establishes a model for how public spaces and artists can work in tandem to create accessible cultural experiences. By integrating art into a high-traffic environment, Inside Out expands visibility for artists while offering visitors a chance to pause, reflect and experience creativity within the flow of daily life.
Come enjoy opening night and the Artist Reception with music, art, poetry, dance and more—where art will take over the mall. As part of the Art Takeover, the reception extends beyond a traditional opening. Performances will unfold throughout the mall, creating the feeling of walking through a vibrant street scene indoors, discovering art and culture in doorways and unexpected spaces.
All artwork in the exhibition is available for purchase, providing collectors with the opportunity to directly support participating artists.
Art Takeover at the Mall marks the beginning of an ongoing initiative to activate shared environments through art, building stronger connections between community, commerce and creativity.
