David Carrillo’s Story of Life Without Parole to a Life of Purpose
March 3 | Noon-1:30 p.m. | Student Commons 114 | Greeley Campus

Join David R. Carrillo for a powerful presentation about incarceration, education and human potential. Sentenced to life without parole, Carrillo spent more than 30 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections, including time in solitary confinement. While incarcerated, he pursued education relentlessly, earning multiple degrees and ultimately becoming the first incarcerated individual in the United States to be hired as a college professor, teaching business and economics at Adams State University. This talk offers an opportunity to hear how resilience, accountability and education can transform lives and communities.

Comedian Mimi Hayes
March 4 | 6 p.m. | Welcome Center Miller Auditorium | Greeley Campus

Aims Student Accessibility Services welcomes Colorado comedian and brain injury survivor Mimi Hayes for an evening of stand-up, storytelling and disability awareness. Hayes draws from her experience recovering from two brain hemorrhages, blending dark humor with personal insight. She is the author of the memoir “I’ll Be OK, It’s Just a Hole in My Head” and has performed at venues including Denver Comedy Works and The Moth, opening for comedians such as Jim Gaffigan. Her TEDx talk, “Laughter Is NOT the Best Medicine,” explores love, loss, trauma and neurodivergence through narrative-driven comedy. A book signing and reception begin at 6 p.m., followed by the performance at 7 p.m.

Tax Help Colorado

Aims Community College offers free tax preparation and e-filing assistance through the Tax Help Colorado program. Individuals and households with annual incomes of less than $70,000 in 2025 may participate at no cost and receive assistance from IRS-certified Aims students and community volunteers. Sites operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

Aims Community College music faculty will perform a selection of favorite compositions spanning a variety of genres and styles.

Spotlight Speaker Series | Charles Duhigg
March 25 | 7 p.m. | Welcome Center Miller Auditorium | Greeley Campus | $100

Charles Duhigg is the author of three bestselling books, including “The Power of Habit,” and a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter. He has received the George Polk Award, Gerald Loeb Award, National Journalism Award and Business News Visionary Award, among other honors. He is a graduate of Harvard Business School and Yale College.

In his keynote lecture, Duhigg explores the science of habit formation, explaining why we do what we do and how habits can change. He examines how powerful habits have emotional cores and how modifying even one habit can have significant effects.

Ag Day Open House

Aims Community College invites the public to its 2026 Agriculture Day event. This free, family-friendly event celebrates local agriculture and offers hands-on educational experiences for all ages. Attendees can learn about modern agricultural practices, connect with industry professionals and explore activities presented by Aims and community partners.

Cory Kahaney Live at Aims Community College
April 18 | 8 p.m. | Welcome Center Miller Auditorium | Greeley Campus | $40-45

Stand-up comedian Cory Kahaney will perform at the Welcome Center’s Miller Auditorium. Kahaney has appeared on “Last Comic Standing,” “America’s Got Talent,” “The Late Show,” “Conan” and “The View.” She is the creator and star of the off-Broadway show “The J.A.P. Show” and continues to perform nationwide.
