Pizza With Purpose is a new Colorado nonprofit founded by Urban Field Pizza co-founder and CEO Paul Nashak and co-founder and culinary director Nick Swanson in partnership with Rosalee’s Pizzeria and Antonio’s Real New York Pizza. The three Longmont pizzerias will mark the launch from Feb. 9-15 by donating $1 from every pepperoni and cheese pizza sold that week to Slice Out Hunger.
In response to the recent loss of government support for food-insecure families in Boulder County and beyond, Nashak, Swanson and a coalition of local hospitality professionals created Pizza With Purpose, a philanthropic partnership uniting Longmont’s Main Street pizzerias. The newly formed nonprofit will raise funds for hunger relief organizations through community events, including its inaugural Colorado Pizza Festival, a large-scale international pizza competition coming to Longmont Sept. 5.
Launch week giveaway
Pizza With Purpose officially launches on National Pizza Day (Feb. 9). During the launch week, the Longmont locations of Urban Field Pizza and Antonio’s Real New York Pizza, along with Rosalee’s Pizzeria, will donate $1 from every pepperoni or cheese pizza sold to Slice Out Hunger, a national nonprofit mobilizing the pizza community to fight food insecurity.
Colorado Pizza Festival
The Colorado Pizza Festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 5, in Longmont between 1st and 3rd avenues from Emery to Martin streets. The festival will include more than 20 pizzerias from across Colorado as well as Longmont breweries, live music, amateur pizza competitions, the Pizza Olympics and kids’ activities (kids under 12 get free admission). Proceeds from the festival will benefit organizations working to end food insecurity in Colorado. Tickets go on sale May 1.
