Empty nesters Bryan and Becky have lived in many places over the years, but their family’s heart has always belonged to Colorado.

“We love the outdoors,” Bryan says. “This is where we knew all our family would come back to, and get together, as they got older after forming their own families and lives.”

With three adult sons living in different parts of the country, Bryan and Becky decided to put down permanent roots in the landscape they all love. After finding a beautiful piece of land in the foothills north of Masonville, they worked with the team at HighCraft to design and build their new custom home.

The couple wanted their home to serve as the central gathering hub for their family, so they needed enough overnight space for their aging parents and visiting sons during extended stays. Bryan and Becky envisioned a modern yet comfortable farmhouse that felt warm and welcoming to every member of the family, including current and future in-laws and grandchildren.

With 3,950 square feet of living space, the home can easily accommodate their growing family without compromising any of its casual charm. Features designed to promote relaxation and comfort include heated flooring, a large kitchen with a generous island, a spacious yet intimate family room, a private primary bedroom suite on the main floor, an elevated back deck for entertaining, and abundant windows to capture natural light and breathtaking views.

On the front porch, classic gables and timber posts create a welcoming first impression, blending modern farmhouse style with the rustic beauty of the Colorado landscape. Past the entryway, the home opens into the main living area, where the natural stone fireplace, vaulted ceilings and warm, hand-sculpted oak flooring beckon the family in.

“When you open the front door, your eyes are immediately drawn to the backyard and the incredible view from the back porch,” Becky says.

When it came to the kitchen, both form and function were at the top of Bryan and Becky’s wish list.

“We wanted a spacious kitchen with a big island, plenty of windows and a gathering area that flows into the family room,” Bryan says.

With double ovens, two sinks and an induction cooktop with a retractable downdraft vent, the kitchen is equipped to handle everything from small casual meals to large family get-togethers. A walk-in pantry provides ample shelving and additional counter space, making it easy to keep the kitchen clean and organized.

That clutter-free design philosophy carries into the mudroom, where custom cabinetry offers individual storage for coats, backpacks and outdoor gear. Built-in benches create a convenient spot to remove shoes before heading into the main living area.

Bryan and Becky’s primary bedroom provides expansive views with large windows that flood the room with natural light. The primary bath pairs practicality with style, featuring a double vanity, durable quartz countertops and a spacious shower with frameless glass and floor-to-ceiling tile. Heated floors and a deep freestanding tub elevate the space into a soothing, spa-like retreat.

The upper level of the home boasts four guest bedrooms, two bathrooms and plenty of space for a houseful of guests. Blue daisy-patterned tile in the guest bathroom adds character and vibrant contrast to the soft, neutral color palette of the home. A frameless mirror and matte-black light fixture add to the modern farmhouse look.

For this family of outdoor enthusiasts, the back deck is a go-to spot for cookouts and relaxing moments alike.

“I love spending time on the porch or back deck,” Becky says. “It’s so quiet out there.”

Looking back on the couple’s journey with HighCraft Builders, Bryan says, “We couldn’t have asked for a better process or group of people to work with. It’s been a privilege to collaborate with the HighCraft team throughout the design and building of our home. The entire experience has been truly exceptional.”
