The Magic Rat Film Showcase, in partnership with She Renaissance LLC, proudly presents Future Frames, a one-night-only student film showcase featuring short films (two-to-five minutes) created by emerging young filmmakers.
Held on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025, this premiere event will celebrate the creativity, storytelling and vision of Northern Colorado’s youth, brought to life with support from local partners, including FC Public Media and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Loveland.
Kay Emerson, CEO and founder of She Renaissance LLC, underscored the event’s mission: “When students are given opportunities and tools, the impact is endless.”
From its inception earlier this year, the Magic Rat Film Showcase has been rooted in community, creativity and accessibility. With Future Frames, She Renaissance LLC and its partners are extending that mission by offering the next generation of filmmakers a festival-style platform to share their voices and perspectives on screen.
“Supporting young storytellers is exactly what this space was built for,” says Carl Pratt, general manager of The Elizabeth Hotel. “We’re proud to see the Magic Rat Film Showcase not only bring world-class independent cinema to Fort Collins, but also reinvest its proceeds into inspiring local youth with the support of incredible community partners. It’s a full-circle moment for our community.”
Over the summer, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County – Loveland Pulliam Unit launched their first-ever film club, a space where young members could express themselves through visual storytelling.
“With the power of community and collaboration with local artists, we are thrilled to present our students’ work to the public for the very first time,” says Josianne Salcido, youth development specialist.
Audiences can expect an evening of fresh voices, bold creativity and an inspiring reminder of the power of film to connect generations.

Looking ahead
The Magic Rat Film Showcase continues this fall with a special evening featuring Davis Harwell on Wednesday, Oct. 15. The program, Scoring for Film, will spotlight Harwell’s work and explore the dynamic relationship between music and storytelling on screen. Audiences will enjoy a rare opportunity to hear directly from the composer about his creative process, followed by a Q&A session.
