Entering 1366 Eliza Ave. in Berthoud’s Harvest development instantly evokes a feeling of warmth. The welcoming green exterior is on trend, setting the stage for the home’s exquisite design and thoughtful finishes. Its covered porch leads into the front entry and expansive open floor plan, a highly requested feature in today’s custom builds.
The home has a cozy, clean aesthetic while allowing ample room for entertaining and activity. Realtor Tara Moreno says the idea behind the design was to offer plenty of space without it feeling cold.
“It’s meant to feel warm and inviting, and that has definitely been achieved,” she says.
Now on the market at $1,220,618, the mountain modern home is one of the entries in the 2025 NoCo HBA Parade of Homes and was designed and built by seasoned industry professionals Custom On-Site Builders. For more than 30 years, owner Kurt Skott has built homes of all sizes across Northern Colorado. This 3,900-square-foot ranch is a continuation of the quality his company is recognized for in the region.
Inspired by nature
In the main living area, natural light streams through floor-to-ceiling windows which, paired with high ceilings, give it an organic yet vibrant ambiance. A contemporary living room completes this focal point of the main floor, with a fireplace set against a dark wall and wooden mantle with custom shelving on either side. A wrought iron chandelier hangs above the living area, adding just the right amount of amber glow.
The adjacent kitchen features its own wrought iron lighting, including over-island pendants and a showstopping rustic chandelier above the dining area. An oversized island boasts comfortable bar seating, a large granite top and a sizable work area. It all blends beautifully with the quartz countertops and knotty alder cabinetry, which complement the red oak floors finished with a walnut stain. Wooden accents are an appealing aspect of the home, bringing a nature-inspired feel to each space.
Organized to be a chef’s dream, the kitchen incorporates details such as under-cabinet lighting, a large pantry, a gas top stove and ample room to move from one area to the next while conversing with family and friends. Serving from the kitchen is easy, as the dining area is directly next to it, along with a glass door that leads to a covered patio with a future gas line for a grill. The outdoor living space is surrounded by a fully landscaped yard and set next to an asphalt path that winds throughout the development, bringing nature even closer to home.
A functional flow
Throughout the main floor, solid wood doors and trim, artistic lighting choices and wooden window casings create seamless transitions. Off the great room, a hallway includes closets, a sizable laundry room with a window for natural light and a folding area with storage cabinetry. At the end of the hall are a bathroom and two bedrooms, one of which is presented as a home office. Ultra-padded light beige carpet is used in all the bedrooms, contrasting the flooring of the hall, laundry and bathrooms.
On the other end of the main floor is the primary bedroom, which features a deep walk-in closet with custom shelving and hanging areas. The primary bath showcases a double vanity and a walk-in shower with white-on-white wave texture tile as an accent wall. This is set against flat white tiles, adding flair to the neutral palette. A built-in corner niche and the sheer amount of light in this area are a testament to the conscientious design of the home.
One of Skott’s favorite areas, the 1,103-square-foot, four-car garage, is drywalled, insulated, textured and painted with a polyurea floor. The garage is ideal for multiple vehicles, recreational equipment and abundant general storage.
Skott’s niece, Lindsay Law, assisted with the main elements of the home’s interior design, and superintendent Brian Niccum, who has worked with Skott for 25 years, brought the vision together. The result is 2,028 square feet of finished space above another 1,900 square feet of unfinished, rough-in basement with egress windows. The basement is sizable enough to include an additional two or three bedrooms, plus a bathroom and family room.
Life at Harvest
The combination of the home’s modern and mountain rustic styles perfectly matches the Colorado landscape surrounding the Harvest development.
With many homes completed and even more being built, Harvest has emerged as a popular, up-and-coming neighborhood on the edge of Berthoud, which itself is on the rise as a premier residential location. The history of the land is rich, harkening back to the Swedish immigrants who settled the area in the 1880s and farmed it. The neighborhood’s street names honor several of the original family members, including the first settler, Swan Peter Johnson.
The area has a peaceful, familial feel. Its nostalgic essence coincides with a commitment by present-day builders to honor the past while leading with innovation and vision.
“I like diversity in our projects,” Skott says. “Quality is our forte, and even in our different price points, we always focus on a finished product that is put together very well. Our team consists of subs and industry pros we’ve worked with for many years, sometimes decades. We have great people committed to doing excellent work.”
Moreno echoes this sentiment, adding that Custom On-Site Builders is known for standing behind their work.
“This makes them a fantastic builder to work with,” she says. “Communication and quality are always the focus, and it shows. 1366 Eliza Ave. is a move-in-ready gem.”
