A summer-long celebration highlighting the impact of parks and recreation
This July, join the Culture, Parks and Recreation Department (CPRD) in celebrating Park and Recreation Month. This is an annual initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA).
The City of Greeley is stronger, more vibrant and more resilient thanks to its parks and recreation system. A variety of activities are planned for residents of all ages and abilities in July and throughout the summer.

- June 7 – Annual Fishing Derby at Sanborn Park
- Thursdays June 19-Aug. 7 – Family FunPlex Concert Series (outdoor amphitheater)
- June 21 – Family Field Day at Lincoln Park
- July 10 – Delta Park Opening Celebration
- July 18 – Parks and Recreation Professionals Day
- July 19 – Touch a Truck and Car Show on the 8th and 9th Street Plazas
- July 25-26 – Arts Picnic at Lincoln Park
- Aug. 7 – Swim-in Theater at Centennial Pool
To mark this national celebration, CPRD leadership reflects on the lasting impact of parks and recreation in Greeley.
“Parks and recreation are essential to a thriving, healthy and connected Greeley,” says Diana Frick, director of Culture, Parks and Recreation. “Whether it’s creating inclusive spaces for play, offering programs that support physical and mental well-being, preserving natural habitats or hosting events that bring neighbors together, our team is proud to serve the community every day. The impact of our work can be seen in the smiles at the splash pad, the families gathered in our parks and the restored trails that connect people to nature.”
With everything from parks and natural areas to festivals and special events, there are plenty of ways to join the celebrations.
