Museum of Art Fort Collins Unveils Bold Enlargement Campaign to Expand Access and Transform the Future of Art in Northern Colorado
The Museum of Art Fort Collins (MoA) is proud to announce the launch of an exciting new vision and capital campaign aimed at stabilizing, renovating and expanding its historic space to better serve the rapidly growing community of Fort Collins and the broader Northern Colorado region.
During a recent community gathering, lead architect, Randy Shortridge of [au] workshop architects and urbanists, presented an inspiring visual roadmap for what the museum can become: a vibrant, inclusive cultural hub that reflects the creativity and spirit of Fort Collins while meeting the evolving needs of artists, families, and visitors from across the region.
“MoA aims to bring essential cultural events to the center of Fort Collins and we are so happy to help them envision reconfigured and additional spaces, additional services and very importantly—an ennobling, accessible entrance to a building that is one of the most important examples of historic architecture in Fort Collins.” Randy Shortridge, [au]workshop architects+urbanists
This next phase of the Museum’s journey is about more than bricks and mortar—it’s about ensuring that art remains a central part of the city’s identity as Fort Collins continues to grow and change. As housing density increases and the downtown core evolves, spaces for reflection, inspiration, and historic connection will become essential.
“This campaign is deeply personal to me,” said Lisa Hatchadoorian, Executive Director of the Museum of Art Fort Collins. “We are not just preserving a building for future generations to enjoy, but we are looking to create a space where all people can experience the power of art, where young artists can find their voice, and where our community can gather to celebrate creativity in all its forms. This expansion speaks to what is possible when the arts play a future focused role in what our city can become.”
The planned renovations will modernize existing spaces, expand gallery capacity, and create new areas for education, performance, and community gathering and engagement. This transformation will also allow the museum to host larger-scale exhibitions, and events and attract a broader range of artists and audiences.
As Fort Collins cements its place as a cultural destination in the Mountain West, the Museum of Art Fort Collins is committed to growing alongside it—building a future where art is not a luxury, but a vital, accessible part of daily life.
