Local Businesses Join Forces with Realities For Children to Raise Awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about child abuse and neglect in our community. This month and throughout the year, Realities For Children is dedicated to drawing focused attention to the sometimes hidden epidemic of child abuse by highlighting what you can do to help keep children safe.
The blue pinwheel is the national symbol for Child Abuse Prevention, and represents the happy, healthy childhoods all children deserve. During April, pinwheels planted across Northern Colorado serve as powerful symbols of hope and community support.
To bring the cause to life, Realities For Children has launched its Pinwheel Promotions initiative, partnering with local businesses to raise funds and awareness. Participating businesses are offering special discounts or promotions and donating a portion of their proceeds to organization throughout the month. Community members are encouraged to support these local businesses and make a meaningful impact with every purchase.

- Support Pinwheel Promotions
Visit and shop with participating businesses who are donating a portion of proceeds to Realities For Children as part of this monthlong campaign. A full list of these promotions are available HERE. -
Pick Up a Pinwheel
Free pinwheels are available at the Realities For Children Homebase (308 E County Road 30, Fort Collins). Community members are encouraged to “plant” them as visible support for the cause. -
Wear Blue on Fridays
Show your support by wearing blue every Friday in April to raise awareness and tag Realities For Children when you share your blue outfit on social media. -
Be a Voice
Child abuse prevention starts with awareness. If there is concern about possible abuse or neglect, call 844-CO-4-KIDS. -
Donate and Double Your Impact
All donations received during April will be matched up to $25,000, thanks to a generous matching sponsor. Contributions go directly toward helping local children who have experienced abuse, neglect or are at risk.
Realities For Children invites the community to participate—whether by planting a pinwheel, wearing blue, supporting local businesses through Pinwheel Promotions or making a donation. Every small action contributes to creating a safer, more supportive world for children.
