Bas Bleu Theatre Company Readers’ Theatre Presents Sarah Ruhl’s The Clean House

By: Staff

Bas Bleu Theatre Company Readers’ Theatre will present The Clean House, a poignant and darkly comedic play by Sarah Ruhl, for a limited engagement this spring. Directed by Kate Lyn Reiter, performances will take place Friday, April 4, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 5, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, April 6, at 2:30 p.m. at Bas Bleu Theatre, 401 Pine St. in Fort Collins.

The Clean House follows Matilde, a quirky Brazilian housekeeper who dreams of being a comedian rather than cleaning houses. Her employers, Lane and Charles, become entangled in a web of relationships involving love, loss, and the tension between order and chaos. With Ruhl’s signature wit, the play explores themes of humor, grief, and human connection.

“Sarah Ruhl’s The Clean House is a smart look at the lives of people who are all trying too hard,” Reiter said. “They learn that a little humor can help us get through life and even death.”
